What's new at Expansive this month?

This month, we're excited to introduce our brand-new engineer app and contractor profile management improvements.

New Engineer App: Smarter, Faster, and More Secure 👥

We’ve rolled out a complete overhaul of the Engineer App, used by contractors to check in to work orders on-site. This major update delivers a cleaner, faster interface with robust new authentication options and enhanced admin controls - making access both more secure and more seamless.

A Modernised, Streamlined Experience

The refreshed UI is easier to navigate, more responsive, and optimised for engineers on the move. From login to work order completion, every interaction has been refined to reduce friction and improve efficiency.

Flexible, Powerful Authentication Controls

New configurable authentication flags in Settings give teams greater control over how engineers validate their access. One option, Login Verification, requires engineers to set up a validation method, such as email or mobile - that must be approved by a contractor admin. Another, Pre-Work Order Approval, prevents engineers from viewing work orders until their login verification has been approved. Together, these settings add an extra layer of oversight and ensure that only authorised users can proceed.

Location Validation for Entry and Exit

We’ve also added geo-fence location check flags, to verify engineers are on-site before entry or checkout. If location validation fails, engineers can try again or, if the secure site access code flag is enabled, they can use this instead. The site access code can be found on the Site View page, under the action wheel, or on the work order itself, making it quick and simple to access. The codes also refresh every 30 minutes for added security.

Contractor Management: Smarter Visibility and Oversight 👷

We’ve also introduced improvements that make it easier to manage contractor information, track changes, and review compliance documentation without workflow disruption.

Full History and Audit Trail

Within the Documents & Compliance tab, a new History section now displays previous answers to contractor questions along with related files - providing a clear audit trail of past responses.

Direct Edits and Updates

Admins can now amend answers and update associated files directly in this tab. Any changes are automatically logged in the History section for full transparency over time.

Faster, Safer Document Review

Where supported, contractor documents can now be previewed directly in the browser, removing the need to download files just to view them when approving contractor profiles. This makes profile reviews faster and more secure.

That's it for this month! Be sure to stay tuned for more updates to come.
